Creating an Admin-Short-Cut
When ZAP! Voice Control For Windows is installed on a machine running Windows Vista then in order to run ZAP! so that
it works; a Vista-Admin short-cut must be created.
Below are the steps that must be taken to allow ZAP! Voice Control to work in Vista.
1. If "C" was the drive where ZAP! Voice Control was installed, then: go to C:\Program Files\ZAP, right click
"zap.exe" and select "create short cut here."
2. Then, go to: C:\Users\<user_name>\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\Windows\Start Menu\Programs\Zap
where <user_name> is the name of the user currently-logged in to Vista.
3. Delete the shortcut that is currently there and replace it with the one just created from step 1.
NOTE: The Shortcut created by the Installer doesn't allow modification in Vista.
4. Right click on the new shortcut as shown below:
ZAP! Shortcut on Programs Menu
5. Select "Properties"; then click the "Advanced" button:
ZAP! Properties Sheet
6. On the Advanced Properties sheet, check "Run as
administrator"
ZAP! Advanced Properties
7. Click OK twice.
Make sure that this is done wherever a new ZAP! short-cut is created.
